In this meaningful and interactive workshop, students will be introduced to the important roles of healthcare professionals and community helpers working in a nursing home setting. Through a guided sharing session, students will learn how nurses, personal care providers and allied health professionals work together to support the physical, emotional and social well-being of elderly residents.

Students will also go behind the scenes on a tour of the facility, gaining insight into the daily lives of seniors and the thoughtful care provided to them. In small groups, students will then step into action by engaging residents through simple yet impactful activities such as games, crafts, music or light movement exercises.

This hands-on experience gives students insight into what it means to work in the healthcare field, while allowing them to connect with seniors, practise empathy and appreciate the importance of inclusive and person centred care in the community.
