Market to Plate: Jr Culinary Camp (Wed to Fri, 24th - 26th June 2026)
Ever wondered what it takes to bring a dish from market to plate? Step into the role of a young chef as you plan, shop, prepare and create your very own culinary masterpiece!
Market to Plate: Junior Culinary Camp
Step into a three-day culinary adventure where young chefs don’t just learn to cook, they experience the full journey of food from planning to plate. In this immersive camp, children will take on the role of real chefs as they explore ingredients, make decisions and bring their own dishes to life.
Market to Plate is more than just a cooking camp. It is a thoughtfully designed experience where culinary skills, real world learning and teamwork come together. Through hands-on activities and guided exploration, children will build confidence, independence and practical life skills that extend far beyond the kitchen.
From learning essential kitchen techniques and handling tools safely to planning meals and navigating real shopping environments, each day presents new challenges that develop both skill and creativity. By the end of the camp, they will not just be cooking, but thinking, planning and creating like true young chefs.

Day 1: The Kitchen Begins
The journey begins as young chefs step into the kitchen and are introduced to the fundamentals of cooking. Through hands-on activities, they will explore a variety of kitchen tools, ingredients and cooking methods while learning how to handle equipment safely and confidently.
As they begin preparing simple dishes, children will develop an understanding of basic techniques and how different ingredients come together to create a meal. The focus of the day is on building confidence, curiosity and comfort in the kitchen, setting the foundation for the challenges ahead.
Parents can expect their children to return home with improved kitchen awareness, basic cooking skills and growing confidence in handling food and tools independently.

Day 2: Plan, Shop and Prepare
Day 2 brings young chefs beyond the kitchen as they take on a more complete culinary experience. Working in teams, they will be given a secret ingredient and challenged to brainstorm, research and design their own dish just like real chefs.
As they plan their creations, children will learn how to identify the ingredients needed, organise their ideas and prepare a shopping list before heading out on a supervised supermarket visit to purchase the remaining items. Along the way, they will explore how to navigate a real shopping environment, compare options, make thoughtful choices and manage a budget.
Once back, children will go through a guided simulation of their dish preparation, strengthening their understanding and readiness for the final cooking challenge ahead.
Parents can expect their children to develop stronger decision making skills, teamwork, creativity and a deeper understanding of how meals are thoughtfully planned and prepared from start to finish.

Day 3: From Market to Plate
On the final day, young chefs bring everything together in their most exciting challenge yet. Children will explore the differences between a wet market and a supermarket, gaining insight into how fresh ingredients are sold in different environments.
Working in teams, they will take on an interactive market challenge where they must communicate with stall owners, make thoughtful ingredient choices and purchase additional ingredients to elevate their final dish. Along the way, children will try their hands at selecting the freshest produce, managing their spending and even practising simple bargaining skills in a real market setting.
Back in the kitchen, teams will recreate their chosen dish while adding their own creative twist, putting their planning, teamwork and culinary skills to the test. With time limits and teamwork in play, children will apply everything they have learnt, from ingredient selection and preparation to execution and presentation.
Parents can expect their children to leave feeling accomplished, independent and proud of what they have created through this meaningful real world culinary experience.
